Rejuvenate your Vagina with a Labiaplasty

With so much media exposure these days, women have unrestricted access to articles as well as explicit photographs of the female genital appearance. With Brazilian waxing and laser hair becoming popular, hair removal is also accepted now. Another taboo that is largely overcome today is surgical reduction of the labia or Labiaplasty. It is important to understand though that a large labia is not abnormal in any manner and is simply a matter of choice, just like getting breast augmentation or reduction. If you are under any emotional or physical stress due to a large labia then a surgery can be helpful.

Problems women face due to a large labia

Most women believe that the normal appearance of the labia is when your legs are in the normal position and the outer labia completely covers the inner lips. Instances when the labia minora or the inner lips protrude, women might think that it is deformed or aesthetically displeasing. This may lead to avoiding sexual intimacy and activity and further, decreased self-esteem. Added to the psychological effects of an increased labia minora, there are physical issues related to it too. You will not be able to wear certain clothes, cleaning problems, irritation, unable to get on a bike and irritation during sex.

A large labia is most commonly congenital and starts at puberty due to hormones. Other factors leading to it could be an infection, chronic irritation, vulvar lymphedema, dermatitis, pregnancy, androgen intake and aging.

Surgical correction of the labia minora

Rather than the traditional surgery, most surgeons today adopt the wedge resection technique during Labiaplasty. This involves removal of the excess skin and placement of the sutures in the fold between the labia majora and minora, and inner sutures near your vaginal opening. There are several advantages to this including retaining the edges of the labia, its color and prevention of any distortion of the clitoris. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and all sutures used are dissolvable.

Recovery and results

You will be advised to wear underwear which will support the tissue and reduce swelling. You can wash but must avoid wiping for a while. Also, you must avoid sexual intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks post your surgery. Labiaplasty is a popular vaginal rejuvenation procedure which will help you overcome all physical and emotional distress due to the large inner lips.
