Carbohydrates are the source of the energy that is used by our muscles and other body organs to perform their designated tasks. These are basically sugars, which are converted into glucose which is then assimilated into our body. Carbs can be stored in our liver in form of glycogen which can be used when excessive energy is needed by the body. Items like vegetables, fruits, cereals and rice are rich in carbohydrates.
Proteins are used for construction and maintenance of body muscles. They are the major component of DNA and RNA of our bodies. Another important functionality performed by proteins is to help the absorption of carbs. That’s why it is highly recommended to include a protein-rich item in every meal of the day. All kinds of meat are a perfect source of protein. Other useful diets containing proteins are pulses, beans, and eggs.
Fats are also an important ingredient of a balanced diet. It may seem to be the source of fatty acids but it is essential in proper working of our body. They are also a source of energy as they can be converted into carbohydrates. Milk and milk products are good sources of fats.
Water constitutes more than 70% of our body. This shows the importance of this blessing of nature. It is needed for almost all the operation done inside our body. Therefore, maintaining its correct quantity is a necessity. This can be done with water, fruits, vegetables and fruit juices.
